18th to 30th Hervey bay so nice

We are enjoying our stay at Hervey Bay so much we only got away yesterday on Wednesday 29th.
We have been kept busy helping our friend with her business for a while and  fitted time in to look about too.

     15th

Hervey Bay
Found this old Queenslander which Jim reckons must be one of the first in Hervey Bay, it needs some work and is used as a business now, but the fine touches of workmanship are really good.

On the 18th we had a look at a potential fishing possie at Daymans Point which is opposite Fraser Island. Jim took this photo of the dogs and me on the beach with Fraser Island in the background and the buildings are on the mainland, a tourist resort I think.

Three days later we took the gear back to Daymans point with intention of catching a feed of fish, Flathead was our target. The day was overcast and a nasty wind blowing which made things a little uncomfortable. Jim was so cold in fact, at times, that he had trouble hanging on to the rod, shivering too much!!

The cold didn't bother the dogs they had a ball splashing around trying to catch small toad fish and whiting, never got any and neither did we. We ended up buying fish and chips for dinner that day.

Time moved on and we eventually made our way north to spend a few days with friends at GinGin, inland a bit from Bundaberg.
29th
We departed Point Vernon by 9am and made our way to Childers after spending some time at the Fraser Coast Wildlife Park just outside Maryborough, where Jim had some fantastic interaction time with the Dingoes there.
Arriving in Childers mid afternoon we purchased a late lunch/early dinner of fish and chips and proceeded to Apple Tree Creek,
Band stand rotunda at Apple Tree Creek
Rodeo showground
5km north of Childers.
This bandstand, a beautiful looking building, was in the rodeo showground.
We spent the night at a free camp on the road side beside a park. The area is pretty popular and parking a premium, a comfy place to park up for the night though.

30th
The day has dawned with rain!! Yuk, haven't had any for a while, but we can handle it, only light stuff.
Made our way to Takilberan, about 20km from GinGin to friends intending to spend a few days. Nice to catch up with them. It has been raining lightly all day, hopefully it won't last much longer, we are safe and warm in the bus, so now worries!!
The month of April is over today, it's been another adventurous month and looking forward to the next. See you then.
